The Music

As stated before, music is one of the greatest things to have any sort of influence on my life. I’ve been into music heavily for as long as I can remember, and I seriously doubt that will ever change. I’m listening to music right now… And I have been all day. I go to sleep to music, I wake up to music, and I turn to music to help me through all of my daily hardships.

I can’t say that I have a favorite genre of music to listen to, but I definitely have a preference when it comes to my own musical artistry – and that’s hip-hop! All day, all night, all my life — Hip-hop. I started rhyming at the age of five shortly after my little brother was born (first song was about him). I haven’t stopped since. It’s what I do. As far as listening to hip hop is concerned, I definitely have some favorites, and most of these favorites are artists that are so underrated that you’ve probably never heard of them before. You know what? I think they deserve recognition… Right here. Right now. Here’s a half-assed list for you to oogle at:

Like I said – the list is far from complete, and there’s a hell of a lot more that I can add to it at any given time, but if you were to start a Pandora account right now and add these artists to your list, you’ll get a good idea of what’s going in my ears on a daily basis as far as hip hop is concerned.

But wait – there’s more!!

Foxy Shazam's vocalist - Sean is one of the greatest performers and voices to ever live. Don't forget that. I didn't say it here first.

Remember how I said that I’ll listen to anything that doesn’t suck? Well that opens up the floodgates as far as listening pleasure goes. My neighbor introduced me to a band a while back – around the same time his wife started the avocado plant that I talked about in one of my first posts. The band is Foxy Shazam. Read this next sentence in the voice of Morgan Freeman: “Holy Shit. Foxy Shazam is awesome.”

In the studio. Too long ago if you ask me.

I miss that hat. I wonder what happened to that thing...?

Now back to me. I’ve been performing since the mid 90’s – even though I started writing years before. This was because I didn’t realize that I was any good at it, and I didn’t want anyone to know. I wasn’t really shy, so to speak – I wasn’t as outgoing as I am now… Even though I still do hate most people. I used to do a lot of repeat performances at a circuit known as “Baby Steps” back home in Buffalo – Those were good times all the way around, and the thing that still makes me want to keep going to this day is the fact that my biggest fan in that circuit happened to be deaf. Completely fucking deaf. I love my life sometimes! I wish I could tell you that I’m doing everything that I possibly can with my music, but I’m going in from now on.
